Before your first eBay listing

Four things have to be in place before eBay will accept a listing. Setting them up once covers every listing afterwards.

1. Connect your eBay account

Open Listing Builder → eBay Settings → Connect eBay. You sign in on eBay's own page; CheckCOA never sees your eBay password, and the connection can be removed at any time.

2. Create business policies for the selected marketplace

eBay needs Payment, Shipping and Return policies for the marketplace you selected. Policies for ebay.de cannot be attached to an ebay.com listing, even on the same account. Create the appropriate policies in eBay Seller Hub, then click Sync settings.

3. Save your shipping origin

eBay builds an inventory location from the place you ship from, and it will not accept a country on its own, give a postal code, or a city and state, alongside the two-letter country code. This is a separate thing from the item location shown in eBay's own listing form. If your eBay account already has an inventory location, CheckCOA reuses it and you can leave this empty.

4. Add a photo of the item you hold

eBay needs a real photo of the actual item. A provider's reference photograph can be used only after you confirm it shows your exact item and that you have the right to use it. CheckCOA verification certificates are never uploaded to an eBay gallery, eBay's picture policy does not allow gallery images with added text or logos.

What CheckCOA is allowed to do on your account

The connection requests three permissions: sell.inventory to create and publish your listings, sell.account.readonly to read your business policies, and commerce.identity.readonly to confirm which account is connected. Orders, buyer messages, and payouts are deliberately not requested.
